The 1975 Announces Indefinite Hiatus After 2024 Tour
During their concert at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California, on September 26, Matty Healy, the lead vocalist of The 1975, announced that the band would be taking an indefinite break from touring after completing their Still… At Their Very Best world tour at the end of March 2024.
Healy expressed his gratitude to the audience, saying, “We’re thrilled to have you all here. After this tour, we will be taking an indefinite break from concerts, so it’s great to have you with us tonight. Thank you so much.”
Successful Still… At Their Very Best Tour
The Still… At Their Very Best tour has been quite successful this year, with a significant focus on Matty Healy’s captivating stage presence. However, it also garnered attention due to Healy’s comments about Malaysia’s anti-LGBTQ laws and an on-stage kiss with a bandmate during the Good Vibes Festival in July 2023. Following the incident in Malaysia, The 1975 canceled their shows in Indonesia and Taiwan.
The organizers of the Malaysian event subsequently filed a lawsuit seeking compensation of $2.7 million, equivalent to Rp 40.5 billion, from the band.
No Clarification on the Hiatus
As of now, a spokesperson for The 1975 has not provided further clarification regarding whether the announced hiatus is a planned break from touring after an extensive two-year journey or if there are other reasons for the hiatus.
It’s worth noting that The 1975 spent two years on the Music For Cars tour from 2018 to 2020 before taking a two-year break from the road. They then embarked on the At Their Very Best tour on November 3, 2022.
The 1975’s announcement of an indefinite hiatus from touring comes after a series of significant events during their Still… At Their Very Best tour, which garnered both attention and controversy.
While fans may be disappointed by the hiatus, it’s essential to recognize the band’s need for a break and await their return with new music and performances in the future. The specific reasons for this hiatus, whether related to the tour or other factors, remain undisclosed, leaving fans with anticipation and curiosity about the band’s next steps.
